Turning the Tide on Pollution

Client: Surfers Against Sewage

Surfers Against Sewage has been campaigning on water quality for over 30 years and they’re not going to stop until they have achieved their goal of clean seas. From sand sculptures and synchronised swimming to paddle-outs and projections, we're proud to have supported this tenacious team of Ocean Activists since 2021.

Over the last four years, we’ve delivered more than 15 media launches for SAS, resulting in thousands of articles and a surge in public awareness. Hard hitting media coverage has galvanised communities up and down the country and made tackling the sewage scandal a national priority. As a result, all of the main UK political parties included commitments to combat sewage pollution last year in their election manifestos. Highlights include staging a mass paddle-out protest in 2021 to capture the attention of world leaders attending the nearby G7 Summit, projecting the names of the top 12 most polluting brands on to the White Cliffs of Dover in 2022, coordinating a synchronised swimming display in a sea pool filled with single use plastic water bottles in 2023, and touring the UK in a branded double-decker bus in the run-up to the General Election in 2024. By investing in low cost but high impact stunts, harnessing SAS’ network of impassioned volunteers, and maintaining a consistent core team to ensure efficiency, we’ve been able to deliver impactful campaigns that exceed KPIs and position SAS as a leading voice on water pollution globally.
