DontViolateMe! – Rise Up Against Revenge Porn

Burson Italy

Client: Motorola

Motorola, committed to social responsibility and women's rights, launched the "DontViolateMe!" campaign in Italy to combat the growing issue of revenge porn among Gen Z. Recognizing a lack of awareness and understanding of the risks and legal implications, Motorola partnered with Telefono Rosa and the State Police to educate and empower young people. A Nielsen survey revealed alarming statistics: one in four young people knows a victim, often involving smartphones, yet many would repeat sharing intimate content.

The campaign unfolded in three phases. First, a teasing phase leveraged Motorola's sports partnerships, featuring a symbolic logo on team jerseys to raise awareness. A press conference with team spokespersons, and a dedicated landing page generated initial buzz. Second, a comprehensive guide, developed with Telefono Rosa and the State Police, was presented at an official event, alongside the survey results, attended by media, stakeholders, and institutional representatives. Finally, a digital campaign, led by young actress and influencer Jenny De Nucci and other female-led creators, amplified the message on social media, resonating with Gen Z. The project continues in schools across Italy, with Motorola, Telefono Rosa, local institutions, and sports partners presenting the survey and guide to students and young athletes, encouraging them to break the silence and reduce the prevalence of revenge porn. The campaign aims to consolidate Motorola's position as a responsible brand, driving relevance and preference among Gen Z by promoting responsible smartphone use and tackling a critical social issue.
