Sue Tibballs

Sue is a charity leader, campaigner and commentator who has worked in the social change sector for over thirty years. Sue was CEO of the Sheila McKechnie Foundation, (SMK) a think tank and capacity builder that supports and champions campaigners, until January of this year. Previously she was CEO of Women in Sport, where she oversaw a spectrum of campaigns aimed at unlocking the potential of women's sport, and culminating in the This Girl Can campaign. Earlier in her career, Sue worked as Projects Director at the consumer insight and trends consultancy the Future Foundation (now The Insight factory) and for The Body Shop where she was responsible for the global roll out of the pioneering Ruby campaign, which first made the connection between body image and self-esteem. In her twenties Sue co-founded the Women's Communication Centre which hosted the high profile What Women Want campaign. Sue worked with the Labour Party in the late 1990's helping them develop a strategy to win women's votes. During this time, she published a report that helped shape our current equalities legislation to allow for positive discrimination. Sue was awarded an OBE for 'services to sport' in the 2014 New Year's Honour's list and has an Honorary Degree from Liverpool Edge Hill University for 'services to women's health'. She is a former Chair of Fawcett and the campaigning platform 38 Degrees and is on the Advisory Board of the AKO Storytelling Institute housed at University of the Arts London (UAL). She is also Chair of of Youthsayers, a music collective for young people based in south east London.
