Client: Back Market

How do you creatively challenge the culture of constant device upgrades when Big Tech’s marketing is designed to make them irresistible?

Words+Pixels answered by subverting the most recognisable consumer advertising campaign of the smartphone age: Shot on iPhone. The Last Shot Gallery transformed its visual language into a climate warning. Iconic landscapes originally photographed on smartphones were reimagined by artists as scientifically grounded visions of their future, labelled “Shot on iPhone 97” and scarred by environmental collapse. Exhibited in a public London gallery, the work mirrored the typography, composition and production values of Apple’s campaign, turning a symbol of aspiration into a provocation. The idea generated 78 pieces of media coverage and 4.3 million organic reach — proving creativity can hijack the language of consumerism to challenge it.
