The science is clear: the urgency of the climate crisis demands bolder, faster and more tangible action. To combat this, the Go Carbon-Free 24/7 campaign called on business and government leaders to work together to ensure electricity demand across all sectors and industries is met with carbon-free energy sources every hour, every day, everywhere.

The digital-led campaign raised awareness of this need, provided the tools for organisations and governments to transition to carbon-free energy, and demonstrated the benefits of early adoption. The campaign engaged those in the most impactful sectors such as energy, technology and science to join the movement and highlighted the collective power to protect people and planet and improve business. The campaign used paid media, owned digital content, website, triggered email, a digital toolkit, a media partnership and an online community platform to reach a global audience of leaders and policymakers. Results show that the campaign generated 38.7 million impressions, 8.9 million video views and 238,177 engagements across social media, 87,050 landing page clicks and 102,000 website page views. The campaign also generated over 2,140 hashtag uses, reaching 19.5 million. As a result of the campaign, over 110 organisations including the US government and the Scottish government now make up the 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy community, each with their own commitment and carbon-free energy transition plans. Importantly, the majority of audience reach on Twitter came from Indonesia, Colombia and Malaysia; a key result given the cruciality of including and empowering Global South nations in the transition.
