Attributing Extreme Weather to Climate Change was Smarts’ first campaign with the Met Office.

And it is one of the government’s most successful digital campaigns in 2022 – far exceeding both the Met Office’s own KPI’s and a benchmark of similar government digital awareness marketing campaigns, in some cases by a factor of fifteen. We wanted to build awareness of the Met Office’s role as an impartial, trusted informer and advisor on climate change, and help people #GetClimateReady. By drawing on the agency’s scientific rigour; identifying our audience’s passion points; and delivering creative, low-cost content together with an authentic influencer partner, we: • Exceeded a benchmark of similar government digital awareness marketing campaigns by up to x15 • Delivered 1.8m visits to the Met Office website • Reached 825,000 people with the message to #GetClimateReady.
