The building and construction sector accounts for 39% of global carbon emissions, and the whole of an individual building's lifecycle has a part to play, from upfront material extraction and sourcing processes to operational energy consumption. But many in the industry are trying to do their bit to reduce the built environment's impact on the climate. This film explores the efforts of leading contractor Skanska to move in a more sustainable direction, through showcasing their creation of offices in western Norway that will generate more energy than they use.
